IDEO 16-17 is an individualized coaching measure aimed at assisting 16 and 17 year olds having difficulty mapping out their life and achieving social, occupational or personal self-sufficiency. IDEO 16-17 can, based on their needs, help them to:
- continue their secondary-level education
- find a job
- acquire their first experience in the workplace
- steer them towards specialized services if they are experiencing particular problems (addiction, housing, mental health, etc.)
IDEO 16-17 stands for:
- Initiative
- Discovery
- Exploration
- Orientation
IDEO 16-17 is a measure established under the 2009-2014 Youth Action Strategy launched by the Government of Québec in March 2006. It is aimed at fostering the ability of young people to enter the job market and is part of a set of measures (e.g. Youth Alternative, Jeunes en action, Québec pluriel, Agir autrement and J’embarque quand ça me ressemble) designed to provide a seamless array of services for those experiencing particular difficulties.
